Hint 2. Finding a property  

The first place to start is to look a the two main Australian Real Estate web sites to help you set your budget and to know what is out there.  You are not able to apply for a property unless an authorised person has inspected the property on your behalf which is when you contact Sydney Rental Search - but - to get started check these two web sites first:-

You need to search these web sites every day because a property can disappear within 24 hours as that is how quickly some homes are snapped up. Also, many properties listed on these sites are old listings which means they are no longer available. Even though there are photos on the sites often they only provide 1-5 phots and sometimes these are inaccurate.

(When Sydney Rental Search inspects a property for you we take somewhere between 30 - 100 photos per property and you know these will be real and accurate).

Hint 3. Be prepared

To apply for a rental property you will be asked for various forms of identification so get any documents together that will show the following:

1. State proof of identity 2. Show current and previous residential history be it rental or ownership 3. Provide proof of income 4.Provide character references

Hint 4. Securing the property

When you have been advised that you are the successful applicant of the property you will be asked to pay an amount of at least one week's rent within 24 hours so you need to be prepared with an Australian Bank Account to either do a transfer to the Real Estate Agent or be able to arrange for a cash deposit, bank draft or money order.

Hint 10. Time

Allow more time than you think is needed.  Things can take longer than anticipated or than they 'should'.  Remember to organise redirection of mail, book the Removalist well in advance (or we can arrange that for you) and re-confirm details with the Removalist 48 hours prior to your move (some have a habit of double-booking or forgetting to show up!)
